ITAD Boot Tools
One small bootable toolkit that turns any PC, laptop, or server into an IT asset disposition workstation. Securely wipe drives, run a read-only SMART drive-health check, or disable the Absolute/Computrace BIOS module — chain-booted over the network from a single URL or written to a custom USB/ISO/EFI image with your organization's key embedded. Every action reports back with a verifiable certificate.
Download the Free Boot Toolkit
No account required — download a ready-to-boot image, boot the target machine, and run any tool from the menu. Want results tied to your organization automatically? Create a free account for an API key and downloadable certificates — otherwise results are claimable later with a verification code.
Already run iPXE? Chain-boot with no download:
chain https://www.itadtools.com/pxe/boot.ipxe
How It Works
From zero to a booted ITAD workstation in four steps
Create an API Key
Sign up, create your organization, and generate a free API key from the Boot Tools dashboard. This is what links results back to your account.
Boot the Toolkit
Chain-load one URL from your existing iPXE setup, or download a custom ISO/USB/EFI image with your key already embedded — no key entry at the bench.
Pick a Tool
Boot the target device and choose from the menu: secure data wipe, SMART drive-health check, disable Absolute/Computrace, FOG imaging, or a memory test.
Get Certificates
Wipes and checks report back over HTTPS and auto-associate with your organization, producing verifiable certificates for audit and compliance.
What's in the Toolkit
Three core ITAD jobs from a single boot, plus FOG imaging and memory testing
The boot menu also includes a FOG imaging entry for OS deployment and a memory test for hardware triage.
Chain-Boot From a Single URL
If you already run iPXE, point it at our boot script — no images to maintain
Add this to your existing iPXE configuration to load the ITAD Tools boot menu over HTTPS:
Associate results automatically: append your organization key as
?org_key=YOUR-API-KEY,
or download a custom image from the dashboard with the key already embedded.
HTTP fallback for iPXE builds without TLS:
chain http://itadtools.com/pxe/boot.ipxe
Built for High-Volume ITAD
Refurbishers
Triage, wipe, and clear firmware locks on incoming inventory at the bench, with certificates that travel with each unit to resale.
ITAD Vendors
Standardize chain-of-custody across sites with one boot URL and per-organization reporting instead of a shelf of bootable USB sticks.
MSPs
Decommission client fleets cleanly — wipe data, confirm drive health, and remove orphaned persistence modules before redeployment or disposal.
IT Departments
Retire internal hardware to a documented, repeatable standard without buying per-seat enterprise erasure licenses.
Organization API Keys
Org admins generate and revoke API keys from the Boot Tools dashboard. Embed a key in your boot media (or chain URL) and every result is automatically associated with your organization — no manual claiming, no transcription errors at the bench.
Verifiable Certificates
Completed wipes produce a Certificate of Destruction with a unique verification code, device and drive identifiers, method and pass count, timestamps, and a SHA-256 verification hash — audit-ready documentation you can verify online.
Frequently Asked Questions
What are ITAD Boot Tools?
A small bootable environment (iPXE) that turns any PC, laptop, or server into an ITAD workstation. From one boot menu you can securely wipe drives, run a read-only SMART drive-health check, or disable the Absolute/Computrace BIOS module. Chain-boot it over the network from a single URL, or write a custom USB/ISO/EFI image with your organization's API key embedded.
Do I need an existing PXE server?
No. Download a ready-to-use ISO, USB, or EFI image and boot a single machine with it. If you already run a PXE/iPXE environment, you can chain-load our boot script from one URL instead, which scales nicely when you process many devices.
Does it need internet access?
Yes. The boot environment connects to itadtools.com over HTTPS to load each tool and report results, which is what enables certificate generation and verification. The target device needs a wired Ethernet connection — Wi-Fi is not supported in the boot environment.
How do results tie back to my organization?
Organization administrators generate a free API key in the Boot Tools dashboard. When that key is embedded in your boot media (or passed in the chain URL), every wipe and health check is automatically associated with your organization so certificates and reports appear under your account. Without a key, results can still be claimed manually with a verification code.
Is it free to use?
The boot media and the core tools are free to download and use. Creating an organization and API key is also free, and it unlocks automatic report association and downloadable certificates.
